We are doing things to slow traffic and recognize visitors. Most parents and other visitors realize what we are doing and support our efforts.

In his superintendent’s report at the Feb. 12 meeting, Mathews said he feels, overall, school officials are doing all that is possible to make sure students have a safe environment.
He said at a January meeting of principals the main topic was each school’s safety plan and making sure the plan is being followed.
“Our best security is our eyes and being aware of what is going on in our surroundings,” he said.
Mathews said some buzzer locks have been added to interior school doors and locks have been placed on fire doors, which may be used to isolate parts of the buildings.
A manned desk has been placed in the foyer at Gray Elementary to assist in checking visitors due to the openness of the entrance, and another door is being cut in the front office of Wells Elementary to add another layer of security.
