Zach Zediker of Gray shot a two-day total 10-over-par 154 last weekend to win the 15-18 age division of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour opener in the Nike Cup Series on the Mountain course at Mirror Lake Golf Club in Villa Rica in frigid conditions. Temperatures barely climbed into the 40s both days as the golfers played through snow flurries. Zediker won by one stroke over Michael Shehan of Marietta, Barrett Waters of Dallas and Brett Ammons of McDonough in the 35-golfer field.
Storm Vaughn led the Hounds with a 41, followed by Zachary Haney at 42, Kris Miller at 46 and Cole Evans and Colby Daniels at 47 each.
The boys didn’t fare as well in their first home match on Monday, falling to FPD 162-176. Vaughn shot 41, Haney 42, Evans 46 and Miller and Daniels 47 each.
The Jones County girls did win their first match, however, downing FPD 146-162. Charli Justice led the way with a 46, Monique Vaughn shot 48 and Kensley Brown 52.
