The March 1 strategic planning session was the idea of the board’s new District 2 commissioner, Jonathan Pitts, and was facilitated by Laura Mathis and her team, Courtney Verdier and Denise Brookins from the Middle Georgia Regional Commission.
All board members attended the meeting with the exception of Commissioner Larry Childs, who Pitts said called a few minutes before the session with a last-minute conflict.
Pitts began the session stating he would like the board to have a plan.
Hearing from department heads was first on the agenda, and Water Superintendent Freddie Wiggins spoke first. He said a few months ago Pitts sent him a letter asking for the goals of the water department.
