Chairman Preston Hawkins presented Fred Bell with a 30-year service award at the March 5 meeting. Bell is the north side superintendent for Jones County’s Public Works Department.
The first visitor on the meeting’s agenda was D.J. George, who spoke to the commissioners about mud bogging and other unwanted activities taking place near his Comer Road property.
George said big trucks with huge pipes are going up and down the road all night and are keeping him awake.
“I can’t hear my television inside my house. They pull down county signs and there are arrest reports when the sheriff’s department has been called because of the noise,” he said.
The speaker said most of the offenders are juveniles, and he does not know what to do.
