Jared Ashley will be performing at this year’s Relay For Life.
The Star of Gray contest was the idea of LeAnne Weathers, State Bank Assistant Vice President and the Assistant Branch Manager for Gray. Ten contestants will be performing in front of judges March 16 for the title of Star of Gray, and the winner will be announced next week.
Weathers is a member of the bank’s Relay team, and she is the chairman of the entertainment committee.
“I went to corporate and asked if they would donate the money to get Jared Ashley to come and perform at the Relay For Life, and they said yes,” she said.
Weathers said she believes bringing in a star like Ashley will increase awareness of the Relay for the entire community.
“Having a free concert should bring everyone out for a good time and raise a lot of money for the American Cancer Society,” she said.
Weathers said, in addition to Ashley, a full production crew from Southern Sound and Lighting in Valdosta would make sure the concert sounds great.
