This year’s STAR Student is Megan Mullikin, and she chose JCHS English teacher Kirstie Knighton as her STAR teacher. Knighton has been a teacher for 18 years.
The March 11 meeting began with a meal and then the honorees were introduced by JCHS principal Chuck Gibson, who is also a Kiwanian.
Mullikin is a senior at JCHS, and Gibson noted some of Mullikin’s activities in his introduction, which include 4-H, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, art club, book club, math team, prom committee, the JCHS Marching Band, where she plays the flute, chorus, JOCO Film Festival, first in the state in Young Authors contest, and she volunteers at her church.
The senior has been on the honor roll every year of her school career and is an honor graduate.
“While doing all of this, she still carries a 99.86 GPA, very impressive,” Gibson said.
