Jones County’s Sophia Grimes won the all-around with 30.5 points in the Lady Hounds’ final home meet last Saturday, coach Jeanine Wilson reported.

Grimes placed second on the balance beam with a 7.7 and second on the bars with a 6, and she was third on the vault with an 8.3 and third on floor exercise with an 8.5.

Americus-Sumter’s Whitney Parker was first on the bars with a 7 and tied Carolina Stotts of Oconee County for first on the vault with an 8.6. Stotts won the floor with an 8.8. Oconee’s Jordan Jungman was first on the beam with a 7.8.

“Our two girls did a great job. Both have new skills on beam and floor, and Sophia has new skills on the bars,” Wilson said of the Lady Hounds. “We hope to be adding a totally new vault in at the Complete Area Tournament at the Lovett School in Atlanta the weekend of April 19.

“Cheyenne Harrison had her season best scores on beam (4.7) and floor (6.4), and she placed fourth on the vault (8.1). Sophia had her season’s best scores in all areas.
