Karen Boatwright was in Jones County Superior Court May 2 because of DUI charges she received Jan. 8 and Nov. 25, 2012. She was arraigned in Gray Municipal Court in February for the first charge and afterward decided she wanted it kicked up to Superior Court for a jury trial, which is her right under the law.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Bushway told the court that Boatwright gave a breath sample in the case and the result was a .106 on the intoxilizer. The defendant was allowed to make bond of $1,734 and was released.
Bushway said Nov. 25, 2012, at approximately 2 a.m., Boatwright was stopped by Jones County Sheriff’s Department Deputy John Humphries. He said Humphries observed the defendant traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone.
“When she was stopped, she told the officer she was going to check on her mother because her blood sugar had dropped,” he said.
