Graduates of Jones County’s Adult Education program were celebrated last week for achieving their GEDs and encouraged to continue their education.

The May 8 ceremony was held at the Jones County High School Preforming Arts Center and was well attended by friends, family, and supporters.

President of Central Georgia Technical College Dr. Ivan Allen delivered a spirited keynote address to the graduates. The recurring theme of his speech was thank you, thank you, thank you.

Allen pointed out that students probably faced disappointments and had people who may have let them down.

“Some may have told you that you would never amount to anything. I want you to go and find that person and tell them, thank you, thank you, thank you. Their doubt may have motivated you to finish your education,” he said.

The president said, as sure as there were people doubting the students, there were also people who were praying for their success.
