The May 16 meeting began with the superintendent’s report, which consisted of a reminder of the upcoming graduation May 31 at the Georgia College Centennial Center and the honors program that took place May 16. The last day of school is May 29 for students K-12.
Superintendent William Mathews introduced Jones County’s Star Student, Megan Mullikin, who was a couple of days later announced as the JCHS 2013 valedictorian.
Mullikin gave speeches at the Kiwanis Club and Rising Star Program before speaking to the Board of Education and will preparing yet another speech for her fellow students at graduation.
As she concluded her comments to board members, Mark Andrews said, “That’s what it’s all about.”
Mathews introduced Clifton Ridge Middle School principal Chip Lundy and announced that the school was recently presented with the Deana Burgess Award for Outstanding Partner in Teacher Preparation from Georgia College & State University.
