Jones County’s Housing Committee met last week and finalized plans for a site visit to a former school in Waynesborough that is now an apartment complex for senior citizens.

The trip is planned for the next meeting date, July 26, and Lynn Ashcraft with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs is helping with the arrangements.

The June 28 housing meeting was led by Ann McLaughlin in the absence of committee chairman Donald Black.

Family Connection Coordinator Joy Carr gave an update at the meeting and noted that she received a phone call from an individual looking for information about housing in Jones County.

“We really don’t have a housing resource. It may be something we can come up with,” Carr said.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kathyjo Gordon agreed that a housing listing would be helpful. She said the Chamber receives a lot of calls asking what is available in Gray and Jones County.
