The Lady Hounds completed tryouts for the 2013 varsity and junior varsity teams on Tuesday.

Tryouts for new players to the program were held last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with 12 girls, mostly incoming freshmen, going through various fielding, hitting, running and throwing drills to show the coaches what they could do.

Then on Monday and Tuesday, all players were assessed to determine who would be on the varsity and who would be on the junior varsity to begin the season. Rosters were to be announced later this week, coach Blake Lyons said.

The Lady Hounds are to host Veterans in a preseason game at 6 p.m. on Friday. They then have another week of practice before opening the regular season at West Laurens on Aug. 19 at 5:55 p.m.
