Fred Bright was presented with the award by the District Attorney Association of Georgia July 21 at the end of its annual four-day conference held at Jekyll Island. The honoree said he was both surprised and honored that he was selected.
“I made sure I recognized the people in my office. I couldn’t do the work I do without them,” he said. “This award reflects on the whole office. I’m very humbled and I appreciate it.”
The award presented to the district attorney stated it was in recognition of his dedication, energy, and outstanding service to the citizens of Georgia. It included one of the honoree’s favorite quotes by Bear Bryant.
“It’s not the will to win but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.”
Bright was elected district attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit in 1981 and served as an assistant district attorney 13 years prior to his election.
