All of Gray’s elected officials are up for election this year, and qualifying will begin at the end of this month.

The qualifying dates to run for the offices of Gray mayor, mayor pro tem and the four city council seats are Aug. 26-30. The applications will be available to be picked up and brought back to City Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Qualifying fees were set by the city council during their Jan. 7 meeting. Qualifying fees for the election are $180 for mayor, $144 for mayor pro tem, and $108 each for council member posts 1, 2, 3, and 4.

These fees are 3 percent of the total gross salary of the office paid in the preceding calendar year.

The City of Gray General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5. Anyone not currently registered may do so between now and the close of business Oct. 7. Advance voting will be held Oct. 15 through Nov. 1. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Election Day.

In addition to the election of Gray’s mayor and council members, the Nov. 5 ballot will also include the question of Sunday alcohol sales.
