Football season doesn’t officially start until Aug. 30, but fans will be able to get an idea of what to expect from the Greyhounds in 2013 Friday night when they host Howard High of Macon in a preseason game.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Greyhound Field.

“I don’t know if we’re ready to play a game, but the guys are ready to go against someone else,” Jones County coach Dwight Jones said.

“We’ve been going at it since July 25, four good weeks, so they’re tired of seeing the same people across the line every day. And I know they’re tired of us barbecuing their tails for what they aren’t doing right. We need to play someone else to see where we’re at.”

Fans will notice a new, larger scoreboard that was recently erected, and the new section of stands that was often delayed last year is in place and will be open.

The new stands will be reserved as the student section and will be called the Barking Lot.
