The Jones County Department of Fire and Rescue responded to a reported structure fire Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 1:04 p.m.  Jones County Fire Chief Don Graham said fire engine companies arrived at 2129 Griswoldville Road to find a modular home structure with heavy fire conditions.

Graham said firefighters engaged in an aggressive attack for approximately 25 minutes before gaining control.  Homeowners Joey and Wanda Hubbard were not at home when the fire broke out.

The chief said that the fire appeared to have started in an office area of the said structure and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.  No injuries were reported, although the family dog perished in the blaze.
