Mr. Ward was born in Macon, the son of Virginia S. Ward and the late Samuel Allen Ward Sr. He was a graduate of Jones County High School and Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. He had resided in Macon, Louisville, Ky., and most recently in Statesboro. He was employed by J.B. Hunt trucking company.
Mr. Ward is survived by two sons, Samuel Allen “Len” Ward III and Alexander “Alex” Crawford Ward, both of Louisville, Ky.; his mother, Virginia S. Ward of Macon; two brothers, Kenneth B. (Linda) Ward of Warner Robins and Warren M. (Diane) Ward of Statesboro; niece, Kathryn “Katie” Ward, and nephew, Jacob Ward, of Statesboro; nephews, Ian (Rachel) Ward and Stuart Ward of Warner Robins; a great-nephew, Simon Maxwell Ward, also of Warner Robins; and his loyal canine companion, Pepper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Snow’s Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, Cherry Street, in Macon had charge of arrangements.
