The Lady Hounds got off to a 2-0 start in subregion play last week, whipping Warner Robins 19-1 on the road on Tuesday and rallying past Houston County 5-4 at home, thanks to a dramatic two-out, three-run homer by senior Kaitlin Stokes on Thursday.

The varsity girls, now 10-2 overall, were to play at Northside-Warner Robins on Tuesday and Veterans at Gordon College on Wednesday before hosting Warner Robins at 7 p.m. Thursday.

It will be “Throwback Thursday” at the JCHS softball field, with former Jones County softball coaches and players recognized before the game and the current players wearing uniforms from the past. Admission has been reduced to $3 for adults, and concession prices will be discounted. Jones County’s two middle school teams, Gray Station and Clifton Ridge, will also play on the high school field at 4:30 p.m.

The game against Warner Robins last week was shortened to three innings due to the mercy rule.

The Lady Hounds jumped ahead with 10 runs on 11 hits, a walk, two errors and three wild pitches in the first inning as they sent 15 batters to the plate.

They added six runs on five hits, two walks and two wild pitches in the second, and finished with three runs on three hits and two walks in the third.
