The Lady Hounds have improved to 19-3 on the season after a busy week in which they won seven of eight games.

Victories in their final two subregion games in the next week would secure a top seed for the region playoffs and a chance to host the Region 2-AAAAA Final Four Oct. 9-10.

Jones County was to play at Houston County in the key matchup on Tuesday, weather permitting. The Lady Hounds, who are 4-0 in subregion games, handed the Lady Bears their only subregion loss with a one-run victory at home on Sept. 12.

Jones County’s final subregion game will be at home Oct. 1 against Northside-Warner Robins.

The Lady Hounds have non-region home games against Georgia Military and Rutland on Wednesday and Thursday, both at 5:55 p.m.

The Lady Hounds are now ranked second in Class AAAAA by MaxPreps.com behind Northgate High, and they have moved up five spots to No. 14 in the overall all-classification state rankings. MaxPreps.com ranks Jones County 21st nationally, but the rankings are only among schools that report statistics to the service.
