An educator with a background that includes law enforcement experience has entered the arena of local politics by qualifying to run to represent Gray’s City Council District 4.

Charles Myers has been a teacher at Georgia Military College for 10 years and served 10 years in law enforcement in Baldwin and Putnam counties before that. He and his wife Lisa have lived in Gray for seven years.

Lisa is a special education teacher at Wells Elementary, and the couple has three sons.

The candidate said he grew up in a small town, and he moved to Gray because it was a lot like home.

He said he has been thinking about running for office for some time, and this year seemed like the right time to start giving back to his community.

“I’m excited about being in the race, and I look forward to serving the people in my district,” he said.
