Jones County took an early lead and managed to stay ahead of visiting Evans the entire game to take a 27-15 victory Friday night in the Greyhounds’ homecoming game.

Shatori Nicole Jones was named homecoming queen.

Junior Walker Juhan ran for two touchdowns and senior Landon Vaughn ran for one to lead the Jones County offense, and senior defensive end Doug Richardson returned a fumble for a touchdown for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Region 2-AAAAA play, keeping alive their hopes of making the state playoffs. They have a short week of practice next week before facing the top-ranked Northside Eagles in Warner Robins on Thursday night.

Evans fell to 3-3 and 1-2.
