A Macon man was sentenced to 25 years to serve after entering a guilty plea to child molestation charges in Jones County Superior Court last week.

Samuel DeWayne McCloud was sentenced to 20 years each two counts of child molestation, and one count of statutory rape Oct. 10. All counts are to run consecutive for a total of 60 years with the first 25 years to be served in confinement. The remainder of sentence may be served on probation under sex offender conditions. Defendant is to receive credit for time served from the date of his arrest June 21.

According to an incident report by Boisey Hunt, the mother of one of the victims came to the sheriff’s department June 19 to report that her daughter and two other juveniles had been sexually molested by McCloud.

The case was turned over to Investigator Calvin Pitts and McCloud was indicted for the offenses by a grand jury Aug. 6.

McCloud’s plea was accepted by Superior Court Judge Hugh Wingfield. Assistant District Attorney Dawn Baskin told the court that McCloud was left in charge of preadolescent females and had repeated sexual intercourse with two of them and attempted it with a third girl.
