In their final tuneup before the region meet, the Jones County boys finished 18th out of 24 schools in the 5-A division of the Last Chance Invitational held last Saturday on the state championship cross country course in Carrollton. The Lady Hounds placed 12th out of 18 schools.
The top five Greyhounds in Carrollton were Ethan Oulsnam, 35th at 18:25.99; Hunter Kimball, 63rd at 18:51.23; Nick Tibbetts, 112th at 19:35.39; Ian Gillespie, 128th at 19:54.64; and Kendall Gordon, 134th at 20:00.62.
Quintin Miles of North Hall won the boys’ 5K race, which featured 222 runners, with a time of 16:46.47.
Ashley Kehoe of Pope won the girls’ 5K, which featured 167 entrants, with a time of 19:52.30.
The top five for the Lady Hounds were Kate Boland, 16th at 21:21.95; Kaitlyn Holder, 32nd at 22:12.77; Holly Gurnee, 84th at 24:04.27; Maria Boland, 97th at 24:37.20; and Frannie Pittman, 109th at 25:15.38.
