At least not this season.
An embarrassing 38-0 shutout loss to Houston County on Halloween took care of all of that.
So, it comes down to this. To avoid their first losing season since 2008 – Dwight Jones’ first as the team’s coach – the Greyhounds must go to Grovetown and beat a team that has won only twice this season, a team that has given up more than 50 points in six of its seven losses and scored more than 20 only once this year, a team that barely beat winless Greenbrier 17-14 last week for its only region victory so far.
Three or four weeks ago, no one would have figured Jones County would have any trouble going to Grovetown and bringing back a victory in the final game of the regular season.
But that was before three straight losses, with the Greyhounds playing worse in each consecutive outing.
