GREENVILLE, S.C.: Bennie Freeman Goolsby Jr., 51, of Hiwassee Drive, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at his residence after an extended illness. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery in Round Oak, with the Rev. Jason Wade officiating. The family greeted friends following the service.

Mr. Goolsby was born on April 19, 1962, in Jonesboro, Ark., and had lived in Greenville for the past 38 years. He was the son of Bennie Freeman Goolsby Sr. and the late Madelyn Jean Swindle Goolsby. After completing his education, Mr. Goolsby worked as a plant manager for Alman Plastic and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors, S.C. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Goolsby.

Mr. Goolsby is survived by his wife, Judy Marie Blackburn Goolsby; father, Bennie Goolsby Sr.; sisters and brother-in-law, Brenda and Roger Chapman and Sudye Hammons; nephew, Aaron Hammons; and by two uncles, an aunt and two great-aunts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
