The Jones County Lions Club celebrated the Christmas season last week by honoring public servants and volunteers from Gray and Jones County.

Dr. Berry Moore, who is program chairman for the Lions, was the master of ceremonies for the Dec. 12 event. The program began with the introduction of Sheriff Butch Reece.

Reece introduced the Sheriff’s Department officer of the year, who was someone very close to his heart, his son, Investigator Robert Reece Jr.

The sheriff said Reece has worked at the JCSO for 13 years and is assigned to the drug unit.

“I am proud as a father and as a sheriff. He has made some big drug seizures during his career, and I am proud of the work he does.”
