The Lady Hounds, led by Amber White with 25 points and Kaitlyn Towers with 12, took control in the second half to down Allatoona 53-37. They will play Spalding in the second round of the three-day tournament at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Greyhounds survived a fourth-quarter rally by Aiken, S.C., to win 66-63 in overtime. Jerry Stephens scored 27 points and A.J. Middlebrooks added 12 to lead Jones County, which faces Central-Macon at 8:30 Friday night in the second round.
In other first round girls' games Thursday, Lowndes County beat East Laurens 58-20, Effingham County beat Dublin 61-30, and Spalding downed Central 49-41.
In other boys' games, East Laurens edged Lowndes 64-62, Dublin defeated Spalding 56-53, and Central beat First Presbyterian Day 65-47.
Second round action begins at 11:30 a.m. Friday, and the third round begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
