There will be no home team champion in the 23rd annual Holiday Classic after both Jones County teams fell in the second round Friday night in Gray.

The Greyhounds made a furious fourth quarter rally from a double digit deficit to force overtime for the second night in a row, but Central took advantage of a technical foul when Jones County sent six players to the floor coming out of a timeout in the final minute to take an 85-80 victory.

Jerry Stephens, who hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, led the Greyhounds with 21 points. Terry McCoy scored 24 to lead the Chargers, who will face Dublin in the boys' championship game at 8:30 Saturday night.

Jones County will play East Laurens at 5:30 in the third place consolation game.

The Lady Hounds fell to Spalding 42-29 in their second round game Friday, dropping them to the consolation bracket. They will play Lowdnes at 4 p.m. Saturday for third place.

Crystal Wimberly led the Jones County girls with 12 points.

Spalding meets Effingham County at 7 p.m. for the girls' title.

In other girls' games Friday, Allatoona downed East Laurens 35-28, Central beat Dublin 45-29, and Effingham County edged Lowndes 49-47.

In Friday's other buys' games, Spalding defeated Lowndes 53-50, Aiken downed First Presbyterian 79-65, and Dublin beat East Laurens 64-53.
