Hounds place third in tourney

The Greyhounds bounced back from their disappointing overtime loss in the second round of the annual Holiday Classic to down East Laurens 92-82 Saturday evening in the consolation final. Jerry Stephens led Jones County with 24 points to make the all-tournament team. He scored 72 points in the three games.

The Jones County girls lost to Lowndes 42-22 in their consolation game on Saturday afternoon. Krystal Wimberly led the Lady Hounds with 16 points, and Nicala Williams made the all-tourney team.

Effingham County beat Spalding 62-31 in the girls' championship game, and Dunlin held off Central-Macon's late rally to take the boys' title with a 53-51 victory.
