Stephen Tingen was elected mayor of Gray during the Nov. 5 election, and Ed Barbee is Gray’s mayor pro tem. The two men said they have been talking regularly since being elected, and although they are from different backgrounds and are at different stages of their lives, they share a desire to see Gray prosper and grow in the right direction.
Tingen said he is from Hartsville, S.C., and has lived in Gray for two years. But he said he really does not feel like a newcomer because he moved to Lake Sinclair in 2006. He is the owner of Tingen Transport, which is a transportation company specializing in specialty loads.
“We move anything big and tall and have done that since 1998,” he said.
Before starting his transport company, he had a landscaping business.
“I’ve been self-employed most of my life,” he stated.
