The Greyhounds lost two of three games last week, but a 72-66 victory at Houston County on Friday keeps them in the running for a good seed for the region tournament.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Jones County boys (12-8 overall, 2-2 in region play) are third in the subregion behind Warner Robins (17-2, 4-0), which is first, and Northside-Warner Robins (14-6, 3-2). Houston (7-15, 0-5) is fourth.

A win at Northside on Friday could move the Greyhounds to the second seed for the upcoming Region 2-AAAAA Tournament, to be played at Greenbrier High School, Feb. 11-15.

Jones County finishes its subregion schedule next Tuesday at home against Warner Robins.

The Lady Hounds are not faring as well as the season winds down, however. They lost all three games last week, falling to 4-16 overall and 0-4 in the subregion, and extending their losing streak to five games. They are 1-8 since the start of January.

The victory over Houston last Friday was a good rebound for the Greyhounds, who lost a heartbreaker at home two nights earlier when Northside rallied late for an 85-84 victory.
