A redesigned and more functional website for the county was the purpose of a Board of Commissioners work session.

Will Harp, Jones County’s IT director, introduced Nick Kouloungis, who is Director of technology services for the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, at the beginning of the March 18 workshop.

Kouloungis said he met with Harp several weeks ago because he wanted to find out about what the MGRC could do to help the county with its website. The speaker said his proposal is to design and develop a new website for Jones County and then enter into a service agreement with the MGRC to maintain the website.

Kouloungis said the MGRC has been developing websites since the early 1990s to make sure counties had a presence on the web.

“In the past we have developed them but then turned them over to the counties to update. Over time, a disconnect happened, and that process was not efficient. That is why we have developed a new model that keeps us engaged,” he said. “We want your website to stay fresh with new technology.”
