A discussion about a Jones County summer camp for youngsters dominated last week’s recreation committee meeting.

Recreation Committee Chairman Jonathan Pitts led the April 1 meeting with recreation director Matt Goins. Three members of the county’s recreation advisory committee, Chris Smarr, Rick Trefelner, and Darryl Grant, were in attendance.

Goins started the meeting with an update about the tennis courts at the Highway 18 Complex. He said the recreation department is working with public works to get the big problems repaired and he is waiting for a certified company to give the county a quote to refurbish the courts.

The director said the advisory committee is holding monthly meetings.

“We are getting good feedback. This is a great group of individuals, and we are moving forward with the program,” he said.
