Shane Joe Saip was sentenced March 31 to 30 years for a total of five burglaries that took place all in one day in 2012 in Jones County. As part of plea negotiations, charges of giving a false name to law enforcement officers, driving without a license, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana were dismissed.
According to the final disposition of the sentence, the first 15 years of the 30-year sentence will be served in confinement and the remainder on probation.
The burglaries were committed May 10, 2012, which was the same day Saip was arrested.
A press release by Capt. Guy Mosteller of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department following the arrest stated that deputies responded to a 911 call in reference to a burglary in progress on Oak Valley Drive. He said the homeowner reported she returned home and discovered a man inside her home.
