Due to rain Tuesday, the Greyhound teams begin the Region 2-AAAAA meet Wednesday morning at McConnell-Talbert Stadium in Warner Robins with field events and the preliminaries of the running events. The running finals will be held on Thursday.
First Presbyterian swept first place in its meet last week, with the boys scoring 182 points and the girls 141.5. The Greyhounds had 126.5 points to easily beat Georgia Military, with 73 points, for second. The Lady Hounds had 75 points to finish behind Mary Persons, 114, and Georgia Military, 81.
The Jones County boys were first in the 4-by-400 relay at 3:37.6 and third in the 4-by-100 relay at 44.25.
Individually for the Greyhounds, Daylon Martin was first in the 300 hurdles at 42.48 and second in the 110 hurdles at 16.42, Shareez Hamm was third in the 110 hurdles at 18.83 and fourth in the 300 hurdles at 44.40, Jarmal Smith was second in the 100 meters at 11.38, third in the triple jump at 39-10.75 and third in the long jump at 20-3, Nyjel Lewis was sixth in the 100 meters at 11.85, Justin Clausell was fifth in the 200 meters at 23.66, and Jequelle Griffin was sixth in the 200 meters at 23.74.
