With the losses, the Greyhounds and Lady Hounds both finished as the fourth seeds from their subregion and were to play at top-seeded Greenbrier on Tuesday in the opening round of the Region 2-AAAAA Tournament.
Boys’ coach Duane Kitchens said even if the Jones County teams are eliminated by Greenbrier, the season may not be over.
“We’re trying to schedule a couple more games to make up for some we had rained out earlier in the season. You are allowed to play up to 18 games, so we would like to have a couple of more to give the kids some more experience. We have a lot of freshmen playing, and they’re just now getting to where they understand what we want to do, so it would be good to have a few more games to help them prepare for next year.”
The boys were 6-7-1 entering the region tournament, and the girls were 4-9.
