The Insurance Service Office is the leading supplier of data for the insurance industry. That information, which focuses on fire protection, is one of the determining factors used by insurance companies in calculating a property owner’s insurance premium.
All things being equal, a lower ISO rating should mean lower insurance premiums for homeowners. The highest rating is a 10, which virtually means no fire protection.
Gray currently has an ISO rating of five, but Fire Chief Max Wood would like to see that number lower. He met Freyer at a recent fire chief conference and invited him to come to Gray.
