During the personnel committee portion of the May 19 meeting, changes in the job descriptions for the city clerk and city superintendent were brought up. It appears those changes focused on to whom the department heads report and the changes take the mayor completely out of that scenario.
The issue was brought up by Councilman David Tufts during the personnel committee portion of the meeting. Tufts said clarifications were needed for the job descriptions of the city clerk and city superintendent.
“We have a situation that the department heads serve at the pleasure of the council,” he said.
Mayor Stephen Tingen wasted no time giving his opinion about the ‘clarifications.’
“All they have done is to omit the word mayor from job description,” he said.
