Jones County junior Kensley Brown has been named to the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association all-state team, coach Jeff Williams announced.

Brown also finished second in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes golf tournament held last Thursday at the Brickyard in Macon.

Baylee Bruton of West Laurens won the girls’ title with an 85. Brown shot a 92, and fellow Jones County golfers Charli Justice shot a 94 and Kaitlyn Hemstreet shot a 107.

Dalton Johnson of Mary Persons shot a 71 to win the boys’ title. Kolton McNeil shot an 82 and Brannen Meadows an 89 for the Greyhounds.

The top boy and girl finisher in the tournament won a spot in the Sea Island FCA Golf Camp to be held July 13-17. Bruton, who recently graduated and will not continue playing golf competitively, declined the invitation, so Brown will go in her place, Williams said.

“It’s a great honor for Kensley to be invited to participate in the camp,” Williams said.
