Randall Wesley Deaton was released from the Jones County Law Enforcement Center May 27 on a $5,000 bond. He was arrested in Jones County May 19 for a probation violation that was the direct result of his indictment last month on the charge of rape in Crawford County.
Deaton is represented by Frank Hogue and was in court May 22 asking for Jones County’s bond hold to be released. Hogue represents Deaton in the Crawford County case and told the court the rape charge against his client involves a former babysitter.
“The allegation involved everyone drinking and we dispute the charges. It was indicted by a grand jury, and he was released on bond,” the attorney said.
Hogue said Deaton is on probation in Jones County on charges of cruelty to children that stem from a previous divorce proceeding.
“He paid off his fees, but the file came back to Jones County after last week’s indictment,” he explained.
