Jones County’s Summer Life Series recently celebrated the graduation of 10 young women who attended the program’s Transitioning Ladies of Character camp.

The Summer Life Series Camp was sponsored by Jones County’s Operation Early Intervention, led by program coordinator Lakeshia Jackson.

Jackson said the camp was held on the campus of Jones County High School from June 9 – 20 with the purpose of helping transition the attendees into young ladies of character.

The girls participated in workshops to help build character in cooperation, communication, problem solving, setting goals, gaining confidence, as well as participation in a community service activity.

The coordinator said at the completion of the camp, the girls participated in a graduation ceremony and reflected on how the camp helped them transition into a lady of character.

The keynote speaker at the graduation was Dr. Jessica Houston.
