Two teenagers were in Jones County Superior Court last week to plead guilty to breaking into Jones County High School and possession of marijuana.

Jesse Dalton Barfield, 18, and Lincoln Grey Vinson, 17, were arrested April 14 and charged with criminal trespass, burglary, criminal damage to property in the second degree, and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

The young men were sentenced June 26 to a total of 24 months probation. The defendants appeared to receive a break from the state, and as part of their plea negotiations, were only charged with misdemeanors. The burglary charges, which were felonies, were dismissed.

Assistant District Attorney Wright Barksdale told the court that the felony charges were nolle prossed because of the age of the defendants and what a felony conviction would do to their records.

Barfield, who is finished with high school, was banished from all property owned by the Jones County Board of Education.
