Young Jones County golfer Zachary Zediker has qualified for the 67th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship to be played on the Nicklaus Course at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, July 21-26. The tournament is hosted by the United States Golf Association.

Zediker qualified by tying for second in a sectional tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss., June 23-24, bouncing back from a 3-over 75 on the opening day to shoot a second-round best 3-under 69 to finish even at 144.

Charlie Miller of Jackson, Miss., won the sectional with a 69 and 73 for a two-day 2-under 142. First-round leader Isaiah Jackson of Golden, Miss., faded after his opening 68 to shoot a 76 the second day to finish tied with Zediker at 144.

There were 3,238 entries for this year’s U.S. Junior Amateur. They competed in 60 sectionals held from June 9 through July 1 around the country to earn one of the 156 starting spots in the field.
