Mr. Strickland, the son of the late Talmadge Strickland and Lura Gentry Strickland, was born in Greensboro, Aug. 11, 1930, and had lived in Gray for the past 55 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an auto mechanic for four years. He was a retired self-employed pulpwood business owner. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria Ellen Strickland; daughter, Susan Dawn Brown; and sisters, Loretta Simmons and Eugenia Credele.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Lynn Shepherd and Pam and Richard Bell, all of Gray; brother and sister-in-law, Gentry and Frances Strickland of Greensboro; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and by one great-great-grandaughter.
