A traffic fatally that occurred last week was categorized as an unavoidable collision that was caused by an improper turn.

Mary Laster Cramer, 72, of Haddock, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle accident that took place July 14. The accident was reported to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department at 11 a.m.

According to the report of the accident by Deputy Joel McCullough, the 2009 Jeep Cherokee driven by Cramer was traveling west on Highway 22, as was the 1999 Ford F350 pickup driven by Matthew Corcione.

The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 22 and Savannah Drive.

Corcione told the deputy that the driver of the jeep hit the brakes and made a U-turn, causing the collision. He said he tried to miss the jeep but he could not.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the Medical Center.
