Deputy Hathaway responded to Garrison Road in reference to a dog problem. The complainant said that the offender had come to her and told her that if her two dogs kept chasing his cow he would shoot them. The offender was notified of the animal cruelty law and stated that he understood. A short time later, the complainant advised that she had three witnesses who saw the offender shoot one of the dogs. The offender admitted to shooting the dog, and the dog’s body was located and turned over to animal control. No criminal charges were filed due to protection of livestock. The complainant was referred to the magistrate court if she wished to pursue charged.
