A Jones County man pled guilty on three separate cases recently and received 15 years with five years to serve in prison.
Kevin Mark Soles Jr., 24, was sentenced to 15 years in Jones County Superior Court Aug. 20 with five years to serve for the offense of theft of a motor vehicle. His other two cases, simple battery and criminal trespass, had sentences of 12 months each, which will be served concurrently with the 15 years.
The March 24 charge of theft of a Lincoln Town Car was the third time since January for which Soles was reported as taking the car without permission. An incident report with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department documents the first time he took the car without permission was Jan. 24, and he was reported for taking it again March 20. On the first two occasions he brought the car back, but he was arrested March 24 while still in the possession of the car.
While incarcerated in the Jones County Law Enforcement Center, Soles got into a fight with another inmate May 11, causing him bodily injury, and the simple battery charge was the result of the altercation.
The criminal trespass charge occurred Feb. 7 as a consequence of a domestic dispute. Soles was also charged with traffic offenses of passing in a no passing zone and reckless driving as part of the same incident.
