The Jones County softball program honored its four senior players following an 8-0 victory over Hardaway last Thursday.
Brooke Hunter, Jesse Poss, Shannon Ussery and Taylor Williams were recognized along with their parents and siblings, and they were presented with flowers, balloons and gifts in a ceremony at home plate.
It was scheduled to be their final home game, but a rainout of the Sept. 17 game against Harris County will be made up this Thursday, so they have one more chance to play at Jones County High’s field. The game against Harris County, scheduled for 5 p.m., will determine the top seed for the Region 1-AAAA tournament, which is scheduled for Oct. 6-8 at Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston.
The victory over Hardaway keeps the Lady ’Hounds a perfect 7-0 in the region.
Kristen Carr allowed no hits, walked four and struck out six in the game shortened to six innings by the run rule.
