Bingo will return to the Lions Club Friday night in a joint fund-raising effort by the Exchange Club of Jones County and Lions Club members.

The charity fund-raiser will be held Nov. 14 at the Jones County Lions Club fairgrounds. The Exchange Club is sponsoring the bingo game, and Lions Club members are providing concessions to feed the hungry players.

The Lion’s Club fairgrounds is located on Highway 18 East, on the left, about three miles from downtown Gray. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and hamburger or hot dog plates will be available at that time for dining in or carry out. The plate includes baked beans, French fries and a drink for $6. Bingo starts at 7.

Cash prizes will be awarded for each of six games with the final blackout game paying $250 to the lucky winner. Door prizes will be given away throughout the evening, and a half and half raffle will be held.

Admission for the bingo is $20 for a six-card package, and additional cards will be made available for each game as well as the final cover-all.

Exchange is one of the nation’s oldest service clubs, and its history dates back to 1800 when a group of businessmen began meeting in Detroit to exchange business leads and information.

The Exchange Club of Jones County is in its ninth year of existence. The local club works with Jones County schools and agencies such as the Adult Education, Hope Missions, and the Boys and Girl’s Club to help meet the needs of the community.

The Exchange Club partnered with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department last year in support of a safe house for Jones County, and the bingo proceeds continue to help pay those expenses.

The Jones County Lion’s Club is ever present to help people in need in the community. The organization partnered with the Exchange Club for its first bingo in 2007 and has continued to support the quarterly event. The Lions Club assists those with impaired vision and people who cannot afford glasses, eye surgery, or a guide dog.
