A Haddock man was arrested last week for aggravated assault with a box-cutter but charges are also pending against the victim.
Marvin Pope, 53, was arrested July 3 and charged with the assault. In a report of the incident by Sgt. Andrew Simpson of the Gray Police Department, the officer said he responded to a call on Davis Street to find the victim, Allen Butch Curry, sitting in a chair by himself in the back yard.
Simpson said he observed a large cut from Curry’s right side of the neck down his chest. The officer asked the victim who cut him and why, and he told Simpson he did not know whom but someone cut him with a box-cutter.
Emergency services arrived and took the victim to the Medical Center due to the seriousness of his wound.
Simpson said, while he was looking for the homeowner, Pope approached him and stated he had cut Curry with a box-cutter and then fled the scene because he felt threatened.
